Bush and Beach Safari Holidays
One of the most amazing holiday packages available is the bush and beach vacation. This itinerary usually lasts for a couple of weeks, and begins with an adventurous week on a wildlife safari, and finishes with a week relaxing on a paradise beach. The combination of adventure and relaxation complement each other, and leave guests with only 1 word to describe their holiday – “WOW!”. Many African countries offer bush and beach packages, but it is Tanzania who clearly dominates this market, with its fascinating National Park and Reserves, which are said to be the greatest of their kind in all of Africa, and of course with the paradise island of Zanzibar, where everything is relaxed and ‘pole pole’ (slowly slowly).
Areas to safari in Tanzania
Selous Game Reserve – The largest reserve in the world, which is filled with all kinds of amazing African animals, and in high densities. Selous is also one of the only places left on the continent where you can see the extremely endangered African wild dog.
Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area – An absolutely mind boggling place to visit, it takes people a while to get their head around the Ngorongoro Craters shape and size when originally seeing it. It is also home to the increasingly rarer African rhino.
Serengeti National Park – This legendary park has it all, from a vast quantity of different eco-systems, to wildlife of fantastic varieties to fill it with!
Places to stay in Zanzibar
Paje – The East Coast of Zanzibar is lined with miles upon miles of beautiful empty, white sandy beaches with turquoise waters. This area is also where the majority of water sports take place on the island, with many diving and kite surfing schools being based in Paje. If you want a quieter place to stay, then the next town along Jambiani is also nice.
Nungwi – The most popular coastal area on the island, which has allot going for it, from nightlife for young backpackers, to beautiful, relaxing beaches for the older generation. There are also activities such as fishing trips available from Nungwi, and you can go on snorkelling trips to famed Mnemba island from this location.
Stone Town – The ancient town area of Zanzibar more than merits a visit. It has old buildings, which are met by long and winding paths. There are many bars, restaurants and shops which will keep you busy and entertained during your stay there.
